It is said, “The nation’s morals are like its teeth, the more decayed they are the more it hurts to touch them.” This statement has a direct relation with the present scenario which the world is facing. Battling a micro looking but still a catastrophic virus has what vindicated the importance of ethics in our daily lives. Often people try to develop themselves academically, strengthen their aptitude as what they think will one day bring them success and glory, but hardly anyone thinks that attitude of a person matters and not aptitude. It is how you deal with the society defines you and not your intelligence or skills. No one likes a cunning fox who is exemplary intelligent but is damn cunning, instead people appreciate a faithful dog who is the blend of skills and trust. The meaning of ethics discussed above is not just the only meaning, but we also need to understand that ethics are set of rules which one follows while dealing with each other. These rules are not defined or written in any book instead they are mutually accepted by people all over the world. You might have heard often people advising their junior fellows to follow ethics, this is done to ensure that no one disrespects or breaches the protocols of the organization. Ethics also play a pivotal role in maintaining hygiene. Take the example of your neighbors who if empty their garbage bins in your courtyard ,how would you react? You will define them unethical. Similar negligence in following the fundamental principles in our daily lives has what led to the ongoing pandemic. There has been a constant debate over the question that whether they virus spurt up through bats or through testing lab but still failing to curb its spread is what proves that somewhere we have failed in our ethics. The definition of ethics for the past few months has been modified. Maintaining social distance, using a face mask, using sanitizer frequently, washing fruits and vegetables, not using them for at least three days after their purchase were some of the norms added to this library. Following these guidelines, would have surely curbed the spread of the disease, but despite government’s guidelines and strict measures , the non-chalance of our fellow citizens has breached the administration. Though we were supposed to self quarantine us in our homes ,we organized parties, planned weddings, went for outing with friends, etc. Hardly did we think that this will endanger millions of lives. Instead if we follow ethics in personal life ,refrain ourselves from indulging with society will be the best contribution from our side to help administration culminate the spread of the virus.

The measures which we will take on personal basis will proliferate into social ethics and each and everyone one around us will follow them, thus giving rise to what we call social ethics. And we can then spread this antidote of following the rules through community transmission globally same as the virus is spreading through community transmission . Our ancient Indian literature already encapsulates these steps through different means just what is required is our approach in accepting these norms and ethics. Even if the state calls off the lockdown what is expected on our part is that we follow these principles in our workplace . Then and then we can ensure that in true sense we are a civilized and a well developed society. As it is rightly quoted by someone, “A man without ethics is a wild beast loosed upon this world.”
